Nn Glucosamine - Intro
Excerpts of clinical studies conducted from 1998 to 2000
Study on glucosamine in the treatment of osteoarthritis conducted in the U.S.A
Data suggested that glucosamine decreases pain and improves joint function in osteoarthritis. Glucosamine sulfate is shown to be as good as ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory drug), for osteoarthritis of the knee.

Studies conducted in the U.S.A to show that glucosamine enhances production of hyaluronic acid in osteoarthritis
The concentration and molecular weight of hyaluronic acid (HA) in joint fluid are decreased in osteoarthritis. Several trials have shown that a high dose of glucosamine stimulates production of HA. This provides symptomatic relief, enhance shock-absorbing properties of cartilage and in the long-term, aid the repair of damaged cartilage.
